Ownership

The Original Owner purchased the Jaguar in January 2001 from what was then Dutton Forshaw Jaguar, Preston, Lancashire, & was under his possession until 2009. The second owner had the Jaguar from December 2009 until late November 2012 on which he sold the car to a family member. The Last Owner acquired the vehicle in August 2013, looking after it until December 2016. Now This Big Cat is looking for a caring new home.

Servicing & Maintenance

Over £5300 in Service & Maintenance Bills, Boasting 12 Services, 7 Jaguar Main Dealer & 5 Independent. In August 2015 the Jaguar had a Major Engine Service, having new Timing Chains, Water Pump, Crank Pulley, Spark Plugs & Headgasket Set, Totalling Over £1600. There are also 11 MOT Certificates dating back to first in 2005.

Brief History

The Jaguar XJ8 (X308) is a luxury saloon manufactured & sold between 1997 & 2003. It is an evolution of the previous X300. The target for the Jaguar XJ8 series was to start the process & remove all traditional excuses for buying British. At its launch 1997, with the full might of Ford’s investment, Jaguar really began to make itself apparent. The philosophy was to turn traditional Mercedes & BMW buyers towards Jaguar, by offering a more aesthetically pleasing car with comparable build quality & a stronger list of standard specifications.

Jaguars have a wonderful sense of occasion that’s missing from its rivals. As an ownership proposition, the XJ8 is leagues ahead of its predecessors, and is right up there with its German counterparts for build quality. Despite their size, the XJ8 series are useful driver’s cars. The 3.2 litre model is reasonably brisk, reaching 60mph in 8.8 seconds, however the 4.0 litre will cover the same dash to 60mph in a mere 7.3 seconds & on to a top speed of 150mph.

The XJ8s are starting to command good prices. A well looked after example should make an elegant addition to any driveway & will only look better with age. The XJ8 (X308) 4.0 are the more desirable, as only 8,369 were produced, compared to 20,235 of the 3.2 version (including Executive and SE).
